Author Dave Stokley was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and moved with his family to Oregon at the age of thirteen. After graduating from high school, Dave spent three years in the U S Navy followed by a thirty-four-year career with the U S Postal Service.
He says, “Accepting Christ as my Savior at age twelve, I proceeded to walk away from Him in my late teens and lived my life as a Christian in name only for thirty-five years. It took an adverse turn of events to cause me to once again seek His guidance when I was in my late forties.”
Dave says his inspiration for the book began during his morning walks. It started with a half hour play which he wrote, produced and starred in. Several of his friends told him he should turn it into a book. It took three years and many starts and stops before Shepherd’s Inn, the Gift became a reality.
Dave now lives in Lihue, Hawaii with his wife, Beverly, and their little dog, Huey. He is currently working on the sequel.
